God was his only hope
Our guest speaker this Friday morning at TGIF is Pastor Vuyo Nyabaza. Before Vuyo was arrested, he was living the life every young man desires – driving the best cars, he owned a house in his teens and was popular in his community. He led the gang.
During his time in prison, which include a ‘great escape’ and he becoming a “wanted fugitive”, he came to faith in Jesus Christ.
After leaving prison he had nothing, and his father had passed on. God was his only hope and during his search for a job he came across the Message Trust and was accepted and treated well.
Now, he ministers to youngsters, especially those with problems with drugs, gangsterism and former prisoners. Vuyo also has a radio show on Radio Tygerberg and is pastoring a local congregation.
Join us and be encouraged in your faith.
Convinced of God’s call
A Capetonian all my life, I am married to Allison and have two adult children – Jason and Erin. We have lived and work in Durbanville for 13 years.
After the Defense Force, where I came to know God, I qualified as a Electronics technician and Programmer. Convinced of God’s call I then studied theology and went into pastoral ministry for 23 years where I also developed my love for cross-cultural mission and discipled others to do the same in Southern Africa. Leaving my denomination and pastoral ministry I joined a church planting movement in the UK and headed up their theological training in Africa for a period. Since then the Lord opened opportunities to serve in China from time to time through under the name of my ministry called Intentional Encounters.
To support myself in 2013 I qualified as a Complementary Health practitioner where I also have opportunities to minister to ‘unchurched’ clients who are struggling with chronic pain and stress illness.
Leon is ‘n gereelde besoeker aan TGIF en was in Junie 2017 laas by ons.

His mercy and compassion saved me!
I served in the SA Police in 2 Specialised Units from 1984 to 1995 executing specialised tasks including bodyguarding VIPs such as Madiba…FW…Mbeki….Vlok etc etc
In 2004, I went to Iraq and is still there currently working for International NGO.
My experiences of witnessing and partaking in multiple traumatic events led me to PTSD and alcohol dependence and many other sins until the Lord through His mercy and compassion saved me in 2015.
To Him be the glory and honour forevermore !

Die reg van die ongebore kind!
—- Dames Welkom —-

Hierdie Vrydag is Henry Jackson, ‘n gereelde TGIF besoeker, weer by ons. Henry besoek ons jaarliks en het ook in 2014 ons Mannekamp behartig.
Do real men suffer with mental health issues?
Do real men suffer with mental health issues? Is it biblical to battle with depression and anxiety, or is it just a matter of insufficient faith? I will be pleased to share my personal experience with respect to both depression and anxiety.
CS Lewis said, God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to our conscience, but shouts in our pains – it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
